The latest INSITU garden office installed in Alderley Edge Cheshire posed some interesting and unique challenges, all which were overcome by the INSITU team.
Built in a conservation area and surrounded by mature trees all of which had Tree Protection Orders, planning permission was required and obtained.
In addition to this there was a marked slope in the ground, in both the North-South and East-West directions, with a maximum fall of over 1.5 metres.
Using a series of brick built piers, not only did this create the solid foundations required, but the precise orientation of the studio, in relation to the trees and the strategic arrangement and layout of the piers, following two extensive reports from our tree consultant, meant that minimal damage was caused to the RPA (Root protection area) which was the greatest concern to the local planning authority involved.
In order to most sympathetically blend in with itsí woodland surroundings the usual graphite grey skirt was abandoned in favour of cedar cladding extending to ground level closely following the line of the slope.
The nature of the cladding, currently orangey-brown in colour will naturally fade to a silvery grey to even better merge with its surroundings.
The studio build, which included a partitioned store with a separate cedar clad hinged access door, was completed in a record 8 working days, including interior decoration, and both electrical and mains water connection.
The site is currently undergoing final landscaping, more installation images can be seen on our case studies page.
